Housing Benefit is a means-tested benefit that is designed to assist people to help pay their rent. If you are on a low income and you rent your home you may be able to get Housing Benefit. You cannot usually get Housing Benefit if you live in a close relative’s household and you can’t get Housing Benefit if you own your home or to help with mortgage payments. Council Tax Support is a mean’s tested benefit that helps people on low incomes pay their Council Tax.
If you think you might be eligible for either or both of these benefits, please contact the Council to discuss your eligibility and obtain an application form.
